Hythe Town Council has at last cleared the way to having a Sports Centre for the town. Local Lib Dems have long campaigned for thisand have supported the Council's bid throughout.

Local Councillor Neil Matthews commented, "We are delighted that at last Hythe will get the sports facilities it needs. I look forward to an early start of building work."

Neil is keen to make sure the roads that will be used to access the centre are up to scratch. Neil said, "The increased traffic heightens the need for a well thought out traffic calming scheme for South Road. A good scheme design would not involve rocket science and the sooner it is done the better."

Community Hall Needed

Local Lib Dems believe that the new sports facilities should be complemented by a purpose built community hall. They are now campaigning for a new hall to be built as soon as possible.

Neil said, "Hythe has many small halls but few are able to take large numbers of people. A town with a population the size of Hythe should have a hall to be proud of to be used for all manner of occasions by various organisations."
