Shepway Lib Dems have backed the local "Herald" newspapers recycling survey, and are encouraging local residents to to take. They have also launched their own petition calling for Shepway's Conservative Council leaders to listen to local residents' concerns about the new recycling scheme and make the necessary changes to address these problems.

Thousands of letters urging local residents to take part in the Herald recycling survey are being delivered across Shepway in the next few days. Thousands of petition forms are also being delivered, as well as running the recycling petition on-line.

Since introduction of the new service, there have been missed collections, poor service and massive public complaints. Added to that the withdrawal in the last few weeks of the specialist collection trucks, and it looks like the scheme is stumbling from crisis to disaster.

There are two ways local residents can get involved:

1) Complete the survey in this week's independent "Herald" newspaper on local residents' views on the recycling scheme. The Herald plan to collate and publish the results, which hopefully will increase the pressure on the council to modify the scheme.

2) Sign our petition calling on the Conservative Council to listen to residents views and to take action to improve the recycling scheme.
