Folkestone Bus Station Entrance "Death-Trap"1.18.12pm GMT Fri 23rd Feb 2007
Members of the public are "taking their lives into their own hands", by accessing the bus station using the most direct route, rather than using the marked crossings, according to local Lib Dem campaigner Gary Fuller. Gary, who uses the bus station daily to travel to work, has witnessed a number of near misses when members of the public have been walking between bays B, C or D and the entrance from Bouverie Place. Commenting, he said: "The entrance to the bus station is a potential death-trap. People prefer to use the most direct route to get to and from the bays, myself included, but someone could well be seriously injured. There are signs warning pedestrians to use the crossings, but these are routinely ignored in favour of the most direct route." Gary has written to Stagecoach to ask that they add an extra crossing, closer to the entrance, to help reduce the likelihood of someone being seriously injured.
