Terror Threat Drops but Shepway Urged to Remain Vigilant

10.44.33am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 5th Jul 2007

The threat of terror attacks has been dropped by official sources over the last day or two, but Shepway residents and businesses and being urged to remain vigilant and to call an anti-terrorist hot-line if there are real concerns about any potential terrorist activity.

The anti-terrorist hotline (0800 789321) should be called by anyone who sees something suspicious or is unsure about someone's activities - eg van/car rentals, many passports, many mobile phones/stolen, camera taking pictures of security arrangements eg, buying quantities of chemicals/gas cylinders. masks and goggles, use of many credit cards, use of computers to access internet, lock up sheds, renting property etc.

These are just ideas apart from the usual - cars parked in suspicious circumstances, suspect packages.

Police want to know:

What is it

Where is it

When was it found

Who found it

Why is it suspicious

The hotline should be used in any suspicious circumstances.
