Lib Dem Cheriton Councillor Dhan Gurung has met with the Nepalese Prime Minister, members of the Government and other Party Leaders during his holiday with family in Nepal. Dhan had simply arranged to meet up with family during his stay this August, but was then surprised and delighted to receive the invitations.

As the first ever ex-Gurkha Councillor in the UK, having been elected to Folkestone Town Council for Cheriton ward in May, Dhan has received huge press coverage and interest in Nepal. The meetings allowed Dhan to brief the Prime Minister and others on the campaign for a fair deal for Gurkhas in the UK.

Dhan is now staying with family in Nepal, but emailed to say that he was pleased with the meetings. He said:

"I was pleased to talk to the Prime Minister and others on the Gurkha issue, and was also happy to see a positive view from the Nepalese Government."
