Tontine Street Redevelopment - Have Your Say

Shepway Council, in partnership with Kent County Council and the Creative Foundation, are consulting on a series of proposed improvements to Tontine Street.

The consultation says the proposals aim to:

• transform the western spur of Tontine Street into a new public square, providing the focus for the activities of the Adult Education Centre, Library and the University Centre

Folkestone

• create a new public space and improved junction at Tontine Street and Mill Bay, making a small piazza for the Folkestone Arts & Business Centre

• improve the perception of safety and security through enhanced lighting

• introduce street trees

Key features of the highway network are:

• closure of western spur of Tontine Street

• closure of Mill Bay to through traffic

• junction improvements at Dover Road to allow both right and left turning

• two-way working of Dover Road between Bradstone Road and Tontine Street
