Shepway to consider Sellindge recycling and digestion plant application

1.59.54pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 29th Jul 2008

Controversial plans to build an anaeobic digestion plant and materials recycling recycling facility at Otterpool Quarry in Sellindge will be discussed by Shepway District Council's Development Control Committee this week.

The Development Control Committee has scheduled time to review the application to build an anaerobic digester and recycling plant at their meeting on Tuesday. The application will be determined by Kent County Council who are responsible for planning control over waste management, with Shepway Council acting as one of a number of consultees.

The plans, proposed by Countryside Recycling Ltd, would see the plant built on the old Otterpool Quarry site off the A20, on the edge of the village and opposite the Airport Cafe. The site is midway between Ashford and Hythe.

The Development Control meeting, which is open to members of the public, will be held in Folkestone at Shepway Civic Centre, Castle Hill Avenue starting at 7pm.
