Fuller's concerns over Sandgate Road ignored by Kent Highways10.22.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 13th Aug 2008
A recent email sent by Folkestone Town Councillor Gary Fuller, highlighting strong concerns over possible subsidence in Sandgate Road, Folkestone, has received little response from Kent Highways. Lib Dem Harvey Central Councillor Gary had asked about what appeared to be some subsidence in the closed section of Sandgate Road, and said that a fellow councillor had also noted some subsidence in Clifton Road. He asked for further information about what was happening with that section of Sandgate Road, and wanted to know if there had been further damage to the road caused by the resumption of heavy traffic use. Gary also asked when the road was going to be repaired so that traffic could safely use it again. Commenting, Gary said: "Considering the significant and detailed nature of my request for information, I am disappointed that Kent Highways has not given a proper response to my query. " He also expressed concerns about a number of motorists, who did not appear to be residents of Sandgate Road, but who had been ignoring the signs and continuing to use the road to pass between Earl's Avenue and Castle Hill Avenue" Gary said: "So far, they seem to have improved the barrier a little, but have done nothing to respond to the concerns I raised. It is my hope that they will respond very soon."
