Lib Dems will fight for Hythe Council Tax Cut11.50.00pm GMT Tue 8th Dec 2009 Hythe Liberal Democrats will be pushing Hythe Town Council to CUT its Council tax for next year. Proposals from Conservative Hythe Council for next years tax sees Hythe's Council Tax rise yet again. Despite this increase, spending on services like Hythe in Bloom are facing a savage 50% cut. Lib Dem Finance spokesman Darren Briddock is bringing forward proposals to protect the Hythe in Bloom budget AND see Council tax cut next year. Darren says: "It's up to our Council to take a lead on doing more for less. We know it is possible to protect Hythe in Bloom and still cut Hythe's Council Tax. In doing so, we can still protect all key services. "For the Conservatives to be pushing up tax again is outrageous. The Lib Dems will put forward a CUT to our Council Tax. this will leave hard-pushed Council Tax payers with more money in their pocket." Neil Matthews says: "If elected in Hythe West on Thursday, I will work with Darren Briddock and Sam Matthews to see Council Tax cut. "I will fight for LOWER Council Tax bills in Hythe West, and against Conservative proposals to remove free parking at Hythe Car Parks and increase Parking charges. "The message is simple. If you agree with higher Hythe Taxes, higher parking charges and the ending of Free Car parks in Hythe, vote Conservative. But, if you want a Councillor that will fight to cut your Council Tax, protect free car parks and fight parking charge rises, please back me on Thursday."
