Local Lib Dem Campaigner Ann Birchmore believes that keeping our area clean is a real priority.

Local Lib Dem Campaigners Ann Birchmore and Peter Carroll are tonight celebrating the news that their campaign to get a bin installed on Littlestone Road has been successful.

Ann and Peter were contacted by Mrs Baxter, a local resident, about the bus stop in front of her house on Littlestone Road. The bus stop is very well used, and a large amount of rubbish in the form of food wrappers and cans is left there on a regular basis. To keep the area tidy, Mrs Baxter cleans it herself each morning.

Today, Shepway District Council confirmed that the litter bin Ann and Peter campaigned for will be installed next week.

Ann said "I am delighted that we got action for Mrs Baxter. It is every resident's responsibility to clean up their own litter, but clearing up areas like bus stops should not be down to local people. I hope that once the bin is installed next week Mrs Baxter will be able to do more enjoyable things with her mornings rather than sweeping up after other people!"
