Paul Marsh: In Memoriam

June 8, 2015 10:11 AM

It is with great sadness that Shepway Liberal Democrats heard of the death of Folkestone Town Councillor Paul Marsh over the weekend.

In MemoriamPaul served as Folkestone Town Council and Shepway District Council as a Councillor for Foord ward for many years, and was well known and respected. Paul was re-elected to Folkestone Town Council for Folkestone East ward for People First in May 2015.

Lynne Beaumont, who served with Paul on both Shepway District Council and Folkestone Town Council until May, said:

"This is a real shock: I'd really thought the last time I saw him that he was looking so much better than for years.

Paul and I have known each other for many years, and often worked together on Shepway District Councillor. He was a good man, and I'm really sad to hear of his passing. My thoughts are with his friends and family."

Lib Dem Councillor Tim Prater, who also sat on Shepway District Council and Folkestone Town Council with Paul Marsh from 2007-2011, said:

"This is so sad.

"Paul was someone who believed what he said, stood up for his views and was a damned good local Councillor. Folkestone will be poorer for his loss."
