Water running down The Undercliff away from mains leak

The Sandgate Lib Dem team have reported a fast flowing mains leak from the Undercliff in Sandgate, and are questioning why almost two days after Affinity Water received and acknowledged the first reports, the water is still flowing.

The leak developed on The Undercliff on Saturday, and was reported by a number of people to Affinity Water during the day. After reporting via Twitter, Tim Prater was told by Affinity Water at 6pm on Saturday "this has been reported a few times today and logged with our Community Team."

Tim commented:

"A number of people reported this leak, which is clearly fresh water, on Saturday, and Affinity confirmed that to me themselves. More people then reported it on Sunday and even today, but as of 11am this morning the leak is still flowing.

"I'm pleased to see an Affinity van is now on site, but don't understand how it has taken this long to respond. The leak is fast flowing, pouring many litres a minute of fresh water directly down a street drain for 2 days. That's 10,000's of litres of fresh water wasted.

"What would they say there was that level of waste from someone other than Affinity Water themselves?"

[Update} The leak was finally repaired by late afternoon on Monday.
