Can YOUR Vote Make a Difference?

May 31, 2017 4:19 PM

Vote change in Shepway from May 2015 to May 2017Lots of people in Folkestone & Hythe say:

"It's so Tory here that we'll never beat them."

BUT the Tory vote in the last three General Elections has been pretty constant at 26,000.

  • In 2015, more than 28,000 registered voters here chose not to vote;
  • In 2010, it was more than 24,000;
  • In 2005, it was nearly 22,000.

In all three elections, if those voters had chosen Liberal Democrat, together with those who actually did, Folkestone and Hythe would NOT have had a Tory MP.

From the General Election in 2015 to the County Council elections in Shepway in May this year the total Lib Dem vote share went up by 3%, whilst the total Labour vote share went down by 2.5%. The Lib Dems also got more votes in total than Labour did across Shepway in those elections, as we have done for every General Election (bar the one in 2015) since the 1970s.

Ultimately, if you truly want to oust the Tories in Shepway, the data (and the direction of travel) speaks for itself. Labour cannot win here.

Change Britain's Future: Vote Liberal Democrat. Vote Lynne Beaumont in Folkestone and Hythe.
