Liberal Democrat candidate for Gravesham East, Ukono Obasi, is passionate about the health and wellbeing of children and young people. 
"In Kent, our children and young people measure poorly against the national averages for children in care, immunisation, prevalence of obesity and young people not in education, employment, or training. These factors have a huge impact on their physical and mental health and is also a huge cost on our economy with all serious impact it has on wider society.
As a public health specialist and healthcare academic, I am passionate about the health and wellbeing of our children and young people. I am therefore delighted that my party, the Liberal Democrats, have made this a priority in the six point strategy.
We will work to ensure that children have the best start in life with vaccination programmes, improved access to support for healthy living for families and better opportunities for education, training and employment for our young people.
We shall make this our focus, as an investment in the future of our children is an investment in a better future for all."
